dandruff-treatmentDandruff is a highly common condition in which your hairs show the presence of a flaky, white substance. Dandruff is discovered in someone’s hair either because it keeps falling from hair while combing or sticks to the hairs making them looking like pepper and salt.

At times, people notice that you have a problem of dandruff when a huge number of white flakes rest on your black-coloured shirt or blouse. Dandruff is easily visible against a black or dark background. In the worst cases, dandruff becomes so severe that it even falls all over your skin. Skin infestation with dandruff is rare but possible.

One hypothesis says that dandruff is a kind of fungus that thrives on your scalp. Another hypothesis states that dandruff is nothing but dead cells that scrape off from the scalp. Whatever be the case, dandruff is indeed a nuisance. You feel itchy and irritable all the time when your hairs are infested with dandruff. You also risk hair loss in huge bunches due to dandruff.

Tips on Dealing with Dandruff:

  • Never keep your hair dry. Dry scalp is the leading cause of dandruff. Massage your scalp with olive oil, coconut oil, or almond oil for some time so that your scalp is nourished with essential fatty acids present in the oil. Dry scalp is more prone to flaking and giving off dandruff than oily scalp. Even if you wash your hair frequently, never fail to give it a gentle and thorough oil massage and let it stay for some time.
  • Wash your hair thoroughly but not more than twice a week. Too much hair wash leads to hair drying giving rise to dandruff. However, never make the mistake of being too shabby and not washing your hair at all. Hair wash ensures that the existing dandruff is also washed off. Note that lack of hygiene breeds dandruff.
  • Curd is an effective home remedy for clearing dandruff from your hair. Apply a little amount of sour curd on your scalp and rinse your hair. You will see the effect in terms of reduction of dandruff.
  • Alternatively, you can apply some lemon juice or amla (Indian Gooseberry) juice on your hair. The benefits of this are amazing.
  • Increase your intake of water and decrease your intake of dehydrating agents like tea, coffee, and alcohol. This will stop excessive dandruff formation.
  • Make a hot water concoction of tea leaves, add lemon juice after cooling, and then apply it to your scalp. This is an excellent remedy for dandruff removal.

Choosing an Ideal Anti-dandruff Shampoo:

  • Use an anti dandruff shampoo that hydrates your scalp and has an antimicrobial effect. The Nizoral anti dandruff shampoo is highly effective against dandruff owing to the presence of selenium disulphide, a powerful anti-fungal agent.
  • Always choose a shampoo that is both nourishing and has antifungal properties for your hair. If you don’t find one, use two different. For dandruff removal, you need to treat the fungus. But, you also need to moisturise your scalp so as to prevent dandruff from recurring. The Aussie shampoo is a true miracle food for your hair. Your scalp and hair get the required moisture and your hairs are left feeling soft, shiny, and extremely desirable.
  • Shampoos containing tea tree oil and lemon juice must be preferred for persistent dandruff problems.
  • If your dandruff is stubborn and shows up in spite of all efforts, visit a dermatologist to see if it has some underlying cause.
  • Keep stress away. Stress is known to aggravate dandruff problems. Under no condition must you stress since it doesn’t solve your problems.
  • Refrain from experimenting with multiple products on your hair. If you have sensitive scalp or if you are using incompatible products, your scalp’s pH balance is likely to suffer and give way to growth of dandruff.

Bid adieu to those pesky, little, white flakes and gain a new wave of confidence in your hair. Don’t worry what others will notice when you wear a black Tee or a lovely little black dress. They will only notice your beautiful hair and a confident you.
